IGNITE (Middle School)

IGNITE, a middle school ministry at Shawnee Baptist Church, is a people-centered and purpose-driven ministry where students come together to learn about Christ. Students in the sixth, seventh and eighth grades are welcome to join us Wednesday nights for IGNITE.
.
Throughout the year we also have special events. Activities that have occurred in the past include: midnight bowling, snow tubing, community service projects, fall kick-off and a summer camp retreat. To encourage further growth in the students walk we also invite them to attend our Youth Bible Fellowship on Sunday mornings at 8:45 AM. At YBF we provide solid instruction that are true to God’s Word and encourage maturity in Christ. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

WIRED - Children's Church - Wired

WIRED is a church experience for kids in 1st through 4th grades that is all about "being connected." It connects kids to each other in fun Bible-learning activities. It connects kids to great role models in our dedicated staff. It connects kids to "big church" as WIRED expands on a "children's sermon" delivered to the whole congregation. That means it also connects kids to their parents as they can all go home with something to talk about together! Most importantly, WIRED connects kids to Jesus. So don't miss this great opportunity for your children, and your whole family, to "plug in!"

K20 Groups - K20 Groups

What Is a K20 Group?

A K20 Group is a small- to medium-sized group designed for fellowship in a comfortable home setting. Each group has a unique blend of families who come together once a month to enjoy each other's company, talk about how God's Word applies to their lives and pray together.

When and Where Do K20 Groups Meet?
K20 Groups meet the second Sunday evening of each month in homes located throughout the area surrounding Shawnee Baptist Church. For a detailed list of the locations, click HERE.

What Does the Name Mean?

The "K" is for Koinonia, the Greek word for "fellowship." K20 Groups are places where we can share and participate - where we can "do life together." The "20" indicates the average number of people in each group. K20 Groups are big enough to have energy but small enough to make everyone feel at home.

How Can I Join a K20 Group?

Send us an e-mail or call us at 609.268.2500. We would love to help you find a group that would be the perfect fit for YOU!

In 1975 the leaders of Bethel Baptist Church conceived the starting of a satellite ministry. They called a returning missionary by the name Rev. Robert V. Dyer, Jr. to pastor the ministry. In August 1976 a small prayer group, meeting in a private home, organized the structure of the Shawnee Baptist Church. After negotiating with the Lenape School District the group was permitted to begin public worship services in Shawnee High School in January 1977. While meeting in the high school, weekly Prayer and Bible Studies met in the parsonage. Growth projections led to development of plans and the building of the sanctuary in Shamong Township that was occupied in 1979. Later structures have been added as growth and increased ministries have warranted.

Why We Are Here

1. Our Mission Statement

As committed followers of Jesus Christ, we come together to worship Christ with integrity, to experience new life in community, to grow in grace toward maturity, to be equipped to serve in ministry, and to communicate the gospel with clarity.

2. Our Mission Basis

"...love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, ...love your neighbor's as yourself."

-Matthew 22:36-40

" .Go therefore, make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you..."

-Matthew 28:18-20

"...you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you shall be My witnesses..."

-Acts 1:8

"So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and there were added that day about three thousand souls. They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. . .and were sharing with them all, as anyone might have need,. . .praising God, and having favor with all the people."

-Acts 2:41-47

"And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ,..."

-Ephesians 4:11-163.

3. The Five Purposes

A. The Church is a Worshipping Community.

B. The Church is a Fellowshipping Community.

C. The Church is a Teaching/Learning Community.

D. The Church is a Serving Community.

E. The Church is a Witnessing Community.

Our Core Values - Our Core Values

Our values express our commitments, those core beliefs that should be evidenced as we fulfill the church's mission. All strategies and methodologies must be in harmony with the church's mission and core values.

WE VALUE… PEOPLE

1. We believe that… people matter to God. Therefore, we will reach out with Christ's love to one another and to a world in need. (John 13:34, 35; Luke 15)

WE VALUE… INTIMACY WITH GOD

2. We believe that… prayer is essential for intimacy with God and effectiveness in ministry. Therefore, we will pursue intimacy with God in prayer and demonstrate our humble reliance upon Him in interceding for all the members, ministries and activities of this church. (Matthew 7:7-11; James 5:13-18)

WE VALUE… THE WORD OF GOD

3. We believe that… the Bible is authoritative and trustworthy, the primary catalyst for life transformation. Therefore, we are committed to the clear, accurate and relevant teaching of the Scriptures. (2 Timothy 3:16, 17; 2 Corinthians 3:18)

WE VALUE… SPIRITUAL FORMATION

4.We believe that… Christ-followers should pursue holiness in their daily lives, continually taking steps toward greater intimacy with and conformity to the Person of Jesus Christ. Therefore, we will encourage one another in the pursuit of godliness and spiritual maturity. (2 Corinthians 7:1; Ephesians 4:20-24; Colossians 1:28, 29; Hebrews 10:23-25)

WE VALUE… COMMUNITY

5. We believe that… spiritual maturity develops best in community. Therefore, we will seek to facilitate the multiplication and development of healthy small and midsize groups with trained leadership for the purpose of discipleship, accountability and spiritual growth. (Matthew 5:1ff.; Acts 20:20; 2 Timothy 2:2)

WE VALUE… TEAM LEADERSHIP

6. We believe that… the church should be led by exemplary Christ-followers, with leadership gifts, who have embraced the mission, vision and core values of the church. Therefore, we will seek God's leading in the selection of godly, servant leaders and commit ourselves to uphold them in prayer, encourage them in their work, assist them in the ministry, and submit to their proper leadership. (1 Corinthians 16:15, 16; 1 Thessalonians 5:12, 13; Acts 6:2-7; 1 Timothy 3:1f.; Hebrews 13:7, 17)

WE VALUE… MINISTRY

7. We believe that… every member is a minister and the primary responsibility of pastoral ministry is to prepare God's people for service. Therefore, the ministry will be placed as much as possible in the hands of non-vocational workers on the basis of their spiritual gifts and maturity. (Ephesians 4:11-16; 1 Corinthians 12 and 14; Romans 12; 1 Peter 4:10, 11)

WE VALUE… EXCELLENCE

8. We believe that… God deserves the best we have to offer. Therefore, in our ministries and activities we will seek to maintain a high standard of excellence to the glory of God. (Colossians 3:17; 1 Corinthians 10:31)

WE VALUE… CREATIVITY

9. We believe that… the church should be culturally relevant while remaining biblically sound. Therefore, in today's rapidly changing world, forms and methods must be continually evaluated for effectiveness, as we encourage flexibility, creativity, and innovation in the fulfillment of our mission. (1 Corinthians 9:19-23)

WE VALUE… PARTNERSHIP

10. We believe that… the kingdom is greater than any one local church. Therefore, we will develop strategic partnerships with other churches and ministries of like faith in fulfillment of our God-given mission and vision, affirming, encouraging, and praying for our brothers and sisters throughout the world. (Romans 16; 1 Corinthians 16:1; Philippians 1:3-5; Colossians 4:12, 13)
